Moment Scale is a uniquely designed clock that plays with the unconscious belief that placing something on a scale will make the hand move. Though the hands don't actually respond, the simple act of setting something on the tray evokes a curious sensation—as if time has somehow advanced. This quiet contradiction between form and perception invites a gentle sense of wonder.

There is a gap between how we perceive time and how a clock measures it. While the hands of a clock move forward at a constant pace, our experience of time is fluid—sometimes racing, sometimes dragging. It’s well known, for instance, that time seems to pass faster as we grow older. Yet in daily life, we rarely reflect on this elasticity of time.
Moment Scale is a clock designed to bring that awareness to the surface. Its form plays on an unconscious belief—that placing something on a scale will make the hand move. Although the hands don’t actually respond, the act of placing an object subtly suggests movement, triggering a quiet illusion that time is advancing. Through this small dissonance between expectation and reality, Moment Scale invites you to pause and reconsider your own perception of time.

The minimalist design blends easily with any interior style. Use it by the entryway to hold your keys or watch, place it in the kitchen for fruit, or let it sit on a bookshelf or bedside table. Made from porcelain, its weight provides a stable and steady presence.

The porcelain is made in Hasami, Nagasaki—a region with over 400 years of history and known as one of Japan’s foremost centers of ceramic craftsmanship. Most of the processes are done by hand, with each piece carefully crafted by skilled artisans.

Porcelain shrinks by about 10% and can warp under its own weight when fired at 1300°C. This deformation is especially pronounced in larger, top-heavy pieces, and can vary depending on the material, firing method, and even the season. To account for this, the original mold is precisely engineered to minimize distortion. Each piece is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans to ensure a sharp and refined finish.
