We designed the wires and fittings to nearly disappear, so only the plants and wood seem to float in midair.
And for easy watering, the bottom part of the pot can be removed with a bolt. On display, it appears as one seamless whole—but when it’s time to water, the bottom comes off easily to let the water drain.

Since ancient times, we have been captivated by the idea of things floating in the air. It is a longing to be freed from the constant constraint of gravity that binds us to the earth. The Sky gardens that stretch through the air, defying gravity, have long represented an ideal paradise for humanity. The concept of sky gardens has continued to captivate us in various stories, such as the Gardens of Babylon from ancient Greece, Gulliver's Travels, and One Piece.
Hemisphere is a wooden hanging planter inspired by sky gardens. Designed to make it look as though the plants and wood are floating in the air, the wires and fittings are kept as inconspicuous as possible.

One of the standout features of Hemisphere is its drainage mechanism.Traditional hanging planters are mostly pot cover types, meaning you have to remove the pot from the cover every time you water. During this process, plants often get tangled in the wires, causing damage to the stems and leaves. To solve this, we developed a design where the top and bottom of the pot are joined with bolts—allowing it to stay as one piece when displayed, but easily separated during watering for quick drainage. Achieving such a complex structure in wood was a highly challenging task, but it was made possible thanks to the precision craftsmanship of a domestic woodwork manufacturer. Furthermore, to showcase the natural grain of the wood beautifully, every detail is carefully finished by skilled artisans.

The hanging wire is made from a water-resistant, thin yet durable polyethylene fishing line. The fittings are made from accessory parts, designed to be compact and unobtrusive, while creating a beautiful, cohesive look.

The end of the wire is looped (hooks are not included).

Hemisphere is crafted by a domestic precision woodworking manufacturer. To showcase the natural wood grain beautifully, every detail is carefully finished by skilled artisans.

The main wood used is white ash, a material commonly found in furniture, guitars, and baseball bats. It is a thick, high-quality wood, rarely used even in luxury furniture, and is carefully carved from solid blocks to create the final product.

To make the body water-resistant, it is immersed in liquid resin for a set period, allowing the resin to penetrate the wood's vessels. Afterward, multiple layers of coating are applied to achieve a durable, water-resistant finish.
